Long Term Mechanical Property of Cement Treated Loam Used in Road Embankment

To investigate long term mechanical property of cement treated loam, a boring survey was conducted on a large embankment with its volume of about 0.4 million cubic meters and maximum height of about 40 meters, after 9 years from its construction. Strength distribution of the undisturbed core sample with the length of 18 meters was obtained by unconfined compression and penetration tests. It was found that the unconfined compressive strengths in the whole length of the sample were larger than the designed values. According to the comparison of unconfined compressive strength at a certain depth, strength obtained in this study was hardly increased from the strength nine years ago.
