16 Analysis of CFA-Pile-Behavior with DMT-Results at Geel Test Site

This paper evaluates the possibility to use the Marchetti-dilatometer (DMT-Test) as advice for determining the skin friction of a Cocofonda type of auger pile at the test site in Geel. Three piles are examined. The evaluation of the unit skin friction q is based on the derivation of the horizontal effective stress after reconsolidaton at the interface membrane-ground, using DMT. The paper further describes the comparison of all results of soil investigation at different stages before and after pile installation. The q prediction out of both the DMT- and the CPT-test is discussed as well as the bearing capacity determined from the full scale static pile load tests.
