Grouting and Ground Treatment: Proceedings of the Third International Conference, (ASCE)
State of Practice in Dry Deep Mixing Methods
Ground treatment by Deep Mixing has been in use since mid 1970s and had come a number of proven applications. Comprehensive research has been performed and the interest in the method is increasing and spreading over the world. This is to a great extent based on the fact that the method has more engineering possibilities than many of the competitive methods and that the research performed has given knowledge about binders appropriate to many soft soils including organic soils, design methods and execution techniques. A consequence is for example that the Dry Deep Mixing Method was the most frequently used ground improvement method in the 1990s for the large investment program for infrastructure projects in Sweden. The experience of deep mixing is very favorable both from technical and economical viewpoint.
