Field Test of Electroosmosis with the Injection of Saline Solution of Taipei Silty Clay
Shao-Chi Chien, Chang-Yu Ou, Hsuan-Hsiang Chang

A field test was performed to investigate the applicability of electroosmosis with the injection of saline solution of Taipei silty clay. The calcium chloride solution and sodium silicate solution were used as the saline solution for the injection in this test. The results of this study indicate that injection using calcium chloride solution and sodium silicate solution during electroosmosis to increase drained water from cathode and electro-chemical reaction can greatly improve the effect of electroosmosis and shorten the time of treatment. The results of field vane tests showed that the undrained shear strength after treatment increased an average of approximately 120% for a treatment period of 24 days.
