Recent large scale diaphragm wall constructions by submersible motormills in Japan
J. Nakayama

In recent years, diaphragm wall constructions in Japan are scaled up to such category as exceending 1.5 to nearly 3.0 m in widths and over 100 m in depth including achieved maximum trenching depth of 162 m. This paper introduces background of development motivated primarily by the advancement for ultra-deep LNG underground storage tanks and recent construction examples of large scale diaphragm walls comleted by submersible motormills which are succeeding series of the down-the-hole submersible electric motordrills, grading up trenching capacity.
