The following four Scholarships are open now.

Manuel Fine Civil Engineering Scholarship

The Manuel Fine Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund was established in 2013 through a $25,000 donation from the Heavy Construction Association of Ontario and a $25,000 donation from the Ontario Association of Foundation Specialists. This was followed by similar donations from the Heavy Construction Association of Toronto and from Bermingham Foundation Solutions. The fund honors Manuel Fine, who served DFI for 24 years in many roles, including trustee, president, executive director, managing editor of Deep Foundations magazine and as publisher of the DFI Journal. The fund provides scholarships only for civil engineering students attending universities in the Province of Ontario.

Langan Engineering and Environmental Services Legacy Scholarship

The Langan Engineering and Environmental Services Legacy Scholarship Fund was established in early 2015 with a $200,000 donation from Langan Engineering and Environmental Services. Rudolph P. Frizzi of Langan, and past president of DFI, facilitated the donation and an additional contribution of $102,000 generously made by many principals of Langan.

Penn State Scholarship

The Penn State Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 through the fundraising efforts of DFI Past President Seth Pearlman, who, from 2006 through 2016, chaired the Annual Golf Outing at Chartiers Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Part of the event’s proceeds benefit this fund.

University of Pittsburgh Scholarship

The University of Pittsburgh Scholarship Fund was established in 2016 through the fundraising efforts of DFI Past President Seth Pearlman, who, from 2006 through 2016, chaired the Annual Golf Outing at Chartiers Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Part of the event’s proceeds benefit this fund.
