Dr. Sunil S. Basarkar is Chair of DFI of India. He is currently working as the Chief Technology Officer in S&R Geotechniques Pvt. Ltd.
Dr. Sunil S. Basarkar retired as the Vice President & Head of Geotechnical Engineering Department at Afcons Infrastructure Ltd, Mumbai in 2024. He has a total experience of around 20 years in the field and 16 years association with Academia in area of Geotechnical engineering. Dr. Basarkar has published more than 50 papers in various national and international conferences, and reputed journals. Dr. Basarkar is a nominated member from IGS for International Committee for Land Reclamation. He is also a fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Indian Geotechnical Society, Institute of Bridge Engineering. Dr. Basarkar also serves as an Editor of DFI Journal (USA).

Ravikiran Vaidya

Ravikiran Vaidya is Vice-Chair of DFI of India. He is the Founder Director of Geo Dynamics. He has over 27 years of experience in pile foundations, heavy earthmoving equipment and demolition. He has popularized methods like High Strain Dynamic Testing, PIT, Sonic Logging, Parallel Seismic method for pile foundation in India. He has worked on all almost all the prestigious projects in the country and in more than 20 countries worldwide that includes Asia, Africa, Middle East and Gulf. He has written several technical papers in journals, conferences and has been a co-editor for the Indian Geotechnical Conference 2020. He is the recipient of the prestigious Dinesh Mohan Award ‘by the Indian Geotechnical Society for Excellence in Geotechnical Practices for the year 2020.

Dr. K.S. Rama Krishna is the past chair of DFI of India. As an independent consultant he provides geotechnical engineering services in the area of foundation engineering and project implementation, for land, coastal projects and offshore oil and gas projects.

Anirudhan I.V.
Geotechnical Solutions
Anirudhan I.V. is past chair of DFI of India. He manages Geotechnical Solutions in Chennai a geotechnical investigation and consultancy firm that conducts small and medium geotechnical investigation works in Tamilnadu and parts of South India.
During his long professional career, Anirudhan worked as a foundation design and quality control engineer on industrial projects using several deep foundation techniques. Anirudhan is closely associated with the activities of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) and was the secretary and chairman of the Chennai chapter of IGS. He earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Calicut University, Kerala, and his master’s degree in geotechnique from IIT Kanpur.

Mohan Ramanathan

Mohan Ramanathan is the immediate past chair of DFI of India and the Founder/Director of the ACT Group of Companies based in Chennai.
Ramanathan has over 40 years of experience in pile foundations, heavy earthmoving equipment, demolition and concrete flooring. He has been actively involved in identifying and transferring technologies relating to construction, ground engineering and mechanisation to India from developed countries. He is a member of several professional societies including DFII, IGS, Institution of Engineers (India), ACCE, ICI and IDA. As an active member in the DFII Executive Committee and vice chair,he is spearheading the new initiative in the introduction of Helical Screw Piles in India.
Mohan Ramanathan has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from IIT, Madras and a master’s degree from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the U.S.

DFI of India Regional Chapter staff
Manager of Operations
Pranav Jha is the manager of operations at DFI of India. His role includes undertaking various activities related to workshops/seminars, conferences, training programs, and technical committees. He is responsible for preparing programs for all DFII initiatives and ensuring the timely completion.
Pranav has a bachelor’s in civil engineering, and a work experience of more than 8 years in geotechnical and structural engineering. He is working at DFI of India from 2019.

Manager of Accounts & Administration
T.S. Mahendran is manager of accounts and administration for DFI of India. In addition to managing accounting and office administration, he assists with organizing executive committee meetings and conferences and workshops, and handling public relations for the chapter.
He holds an MBA in finance. Before joining DFI of India, he worked for 10 years with different industry organizations covering sales, marketing, and finance functions.
Senior Technical Co-Ordinator
Sai Sindhu is the Senior Technical Co-Ordinator for DFI of India. She has done her Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the University College of Engineering, JNTUK, Kakinada. She completed her Masters in Geotechnical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Tirupati. Her areas of interest include Ground Improvement Techniques, Foundation Design, and Slope Stability Analysis.
Her role includes coordinating technical committee activities, developing pool of experts, developing technical programs envisioned by the committees, helping the committees to execute programs, maintaining the design/user/application manuals developed by the sub-committees. She will also be responsible for arranging the regular committee meetings as demanded by the committee chairs (online and physical).

Aswin V Hari
Aswin V Hari is the Technical Co-ordinator for DFI of India. He has done his Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from VKCET, Kollam, Kerala. He completed his Masters in Geotechnical Engineering from Cochin University of Science and Technology, Ernakulam, Kerala. His area of interest includes Ground Improvement Techniques, Slope Stability Analysis and Site Investigation.
His responsibilities include coordinating technical committee activities, building a network of experts, and supporting the development and execution of technical programs initiated by the committees.
