Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) announces five new technical committee chairs who started their new roles on October 7, 2024.
Miriam Smith, Ph.D., P.E., Condon-Johnson & Associates, is succeeding Tim Siegel, P.E., G.E., BC.GE, Dan Brown Associates, as chair of the Ground Improvement Committee. Smith is currently a senior director of ground improvement and has more than 20 years of geotechnical engineering practice and ground improvement, design-build construction experience. She is a licensed professional engineer in several states including California and Nevada.
Jamey Rosen, P.Geo., Geosyntec Consultants, is handing leadership of the Information Management Systems Committee over to Jeff Burton, P.Eng., Advanced Construction Techniques (ACT). As ACT’s director, information systems & research, Burton has more than 20 years of experience in designing, programming, deploying and maintaining data management systems for geotechnical construction.
For the Manufacturers, Suppliers and Service Providers Committee, Steve Garlick, Magnum Piering, is taking over as chair from John Anderson, Specrete-IP. Garlick has been in business development for more than 15 years, with the last 8 years focused on the deep foundations industry.
Scott Walker, P.E., G.E., Langan Engineering and Environmental Services, is assuming leadership of the Subsurface Characterization for Deep Foundations Committee from Mary Nodine, P.E., Federal Highway Administration. Walker has been providing geotechnical consulting services in California and Montana for more than 20 years. Most recently with DFI, he was the conference program co-chair for DFI’s 48th Annual Conference on Deep Foundations in Seattle.
Emma Migneault, Worldsensing, is succeeding Lucky Nagarajan, Geocomp, as chair of the Women in Deep Foundations (WiDF) Committee. Migneault has more than 10 years of experience in business development, estimating and project management. The last 7 years, she has been dedicated to instrumentation projects for geotechnical and structural applications. In addition to being an active member of the WiDF Committee, Migneault has been helping fundraise for the DFI Educational Trust.
